About the PropTech Dugnaden project

How do you give a proptech research initiative with 60+ participating companies and measurable results the digital presence it needs to secure government funding and reach a national audience?

Establishing digital credibility for a national PropTech initiative.

PropTech Dugnaden is a collaborative research initiative at the Norwegian Maritime Museum, exploring how smart building technology can extend the life of existing buildings instead of demolishing and rebuilding.

The Challenge

PropTech Dugnaden had already achieved significant results: 60+ companies participating voluntarily, a 19% reduction in energy consumption without replacing any equipment, and recognition across major industry conferences. But none of that was visible online. The initiative needed a digital presence that could communicate its impact to government bodies evaluating funding for the museum’s rehabilitation, while documenting the research for the broader construction industry and academia.

The Process

Framed the initiative as a movement, not a project.

The narrative needed to do more than document research. It had to position PropTech Dugnaden as a replicable model for green innovation, making the case for government rehabilitation funding while inspiring new participants and industry attention. Structured the messaging around community and measurable impact.

Built an identity around collaboration and green innovation.

Teal signals green innovation, orange brings energy and playfulness to a traditionally institutional tone. The imagery centers on people: group photos, collaborative moments, and genuine engagement across 60+ companies. The identity needed to feel like a community effort.

Designed the website to serve multiple audiences.

Government stakeholders evaluating funding, industry professionals exploring the research, and universities using it as an educational case study all needed different entry points. Organized the site around the initiative’s story, results, and next phase (the museum’s rehabilitation).

The Result

PropTech Dugnaden now has a digital presence that matches the real-world impact of the initiative. The website communicates measurable results and institutional credibility to government stakeholders evaluating rehabilitation funding, while positioning the initiative as a replicable model for green innovation across the construction industry.
